Trevor Ragan is on a mission to challenge and question EVERYTHING that we think we know about sports, education, and development. FEAR is one factor holding us back. In this video he helps us learn to deal with fear.
Scientist Jonah Berger, Wharton, University of Pennsylvania explains social conformity and what is going on in the brain.
Given this insight, I do believe that we can improve the youth sport environment. Start with sharing the Yellow for Yelling card at games where your child is playing. Step away if a parent gets too emotional and start yelling. Slowly, the norm will be supportive behaviours rather than instructive or abusive.
