Mark Upton - Co-Director My fastest mile

Mark graduated with a sport science degree. This led to an opportunity to work in a professional AFL club for 12 years.

Over this time his role gradually became more coaching focused and I became accustomed to operating in a space that blended coaching and science. He contribute to, emerging leadership, culture, skill acquisition and performance analysis initiatives that are now becoming common-place in professional sport.

Early in 2014 he joined the English Institute of Sport as their first-ever Coaching Science Manager. His role involves supporting athletes and coaches directly in their learning and development, as well as providing system-level input into UK Sport’s world-leading coach development programmes and NGB’s coaching and talent pathways.

Matt Wintersgill - Founder C.A.R.D.S Soccer Coaching

Matthew completed his Masters of Teaching 2020. He is accredited soccer coach in the process of obtaining a B-Licence with Football Australia.

He is looking to provide positive learning experiences in sport for children and young people. I believe that the benefits of playing sport are wide-ranging and should be open to all.

Matthew adopts a facilitative approach to coaching and teaching, helping learners find their own solutions and develop their own playing styles. To this end, he has created a junior soccer program based on higher-order skills that can be applied to soccer, sport, the classroom, and wider life.
